ABOUT

I AM

.... an environmental educator, thru-hiker, ex-wilderness guide, soccer fanatic, trail runner, brother, soccer and baseball lover, solar installer, and inspiring horse enthusiast (even though I haven't taken The Horse Course yet).
At The College of Wooster, I built long-lasting connections while expanding my world a hundred fold. I studied the twisting tectonic plates of and in New Zealand, chased disappearing glaciers in Alaska, and unearthed 520 million year old trilobites in Ohio creek beds. After that, life got a bit more complicated, but the adventures didn't end.

In recent years, I've worked many different gigs, moved around the country, added to my list of best friends, and spent a lot of time on the trail. Most impactfully to my mind and health, I found comfort and inspiration in nature, which recharges my battery and fuels my imagination and sense of wonder.

Since 2019, I thru-hiked the PCT and Wind River High Route, failed on the Grand Sierra Traverse, and designed and completed my own version of the Weminuche High Route. Day to day, I continue struggling to navigate climate anxiety and the role I can play to create a better, more sustainable world.
While earning my Master in Environmental Management from Western Colorado University, I worked with diverse stakeholders in rural and highly urbanized communities to explore the interplay of humans with the natural world. I facilitated workshops with natural resource managers, local business owners, and community leaders to find solutions to complex problems. I worked within committees to strategically plan and implement on-the-ground improvements to critical infrastructure, paving the way for wide-reaching and ambitious scientific research. Most of all, however, I learned how much I truly don't know about this big and mysterious world.

Each day is a chance to uncover more of the world's wonder. That is the real reason I created this website. Understandably confined indoors or to one community, I lust for wandering the Scottish Highlands, for understanding the copper deposits of the Keweenaw, or for cursing Hertha Berlin's stubborn tactics on the football pitch.
Sweet release.

ORIGINS
I hail (HAIL!) from Ann Arbor, Michigan. I grew up outside, playing every sport imaginable until my legs gave out. Rain or shine. Not even an eye patch could slow me down.

My most precious memories remain in the Upper Peninsula on the shores of Lake Superior, collecting beautiful rocks, getting bit by black flies, and dodging black bears.
